After many years of traveling and living in "western civilizations" I became increasingly interested in an
alternative domicile in a warmer climate, not only because of the weather and unaffected nature, but also because
of the internal warmth of the people who I met there.
The fact that we all get older, with the rather sad outlook of a managed health care future, made me look around
for a better option. I had a vision of an international nature community in a friendlier and warmer place.
Having visited many tropical countries, from the Atlantic to Hawaii, it became ever more clear to me that the
mostly humid climate of the Caribbean is not ideal for year around living, and the remoteness of islands with
mostly foreigners and tourists gets boring real soon.
During several journeys in the years 1982 to 1990 through almost all of the Central American countries I discovered
quickly the unique ambience of Costa Rica, especially the Nicoya Peninsula.
This country has long taken a gentler course both politically and socially since 1948 when it abolished the military
and focused on education, healthcare and nature preservation. Most important, Costa Rica law guarantees foreigners
full ownership and development rights for Business and Real Estate.
